The Power Oasis:
A Botanical Sanctuary
The Power Oasis is a visionary botanical garden that reimagines the iconic Three Chimneys of a former thermal power station in Barcelona as a catalyst for ecological regeneration. Dedicated to preserving native endangered plant species, the project pioneers sustainable water management through integrated solar desalination technology. Nestled along the Mediterranean coast, it offers a living sanctuary where biodiversity conservation and climate innovation converge.
Set in a climate-disaster future where Barcelona still faces severe drought, sea levels have risen by over five meters. The project proposes a resilient model of coexistence between human systems and fragile ecosystems. By harnessing desalinated seawater for irrigation, the Power Oasis sustains plant life under extreme environmental conditions and supports ongoing research in climate-adaptive horticulture.
More than a conservation space, the garden becomes a dynamic civic and scientific hub, offering immersive landscapes, educational programs, and ecological research initiatives. It stands as a beacon of sustainability, resilience, and cultural renewal at the heart of Barcelona’s evolving coastal edge.
